WARNING: STUDENTS ARE AT RISK
The Purple Line Detour is Costly, Dangerous and Puts the Future of a High School in Jeopardy.
Students were put at risk when L.A. Metro inexplicably moved its Purple Line subway 800 feet, requiring massive tunneling directly under a high school and through 70-80 abandoned and unmapped oil wells. This detour will likely disturb pockets of deadly methane gas and hydrogen sulfide, as well as costing taxpayers at least $400 million more.
This new route is dangerous, posing health risks to students and faculty.
President Donald Trump and U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao must stop this detour of the Purple Line in Los Angeles, allowing all parties to gather information about health and safety risks, as well as other route options, and work together to address student safety and mass transit needs.

Take Action Today to Protect Beverly High Students and Faculty From the Purple Threat!
Step 1: Petition
L.A. Metro’s Purple Line extension detour is costly, dangerous and puts the future of a high school at risk. President Donald Trump and U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao must stop The Purple Threat today by suspending federal funds from Section 2 of the Purple Line extension, giving all parties a chance to evaluate and agree upon other, safer options for the subway extension.
SIGN THE PETITIONStep 2: Contact Your Public Officials
Calling and emailing your public officials is crucial. Your calls and emails will be counted, and are as powerful as votes! Use the draft message below to copy and paste into your own email, or write your own letter.
For the sake of the children and school community, L.A. Metro must be stopped from putting the Purple Line subway extension underneath Beverly Hills High School.
The needs of the high school (for safety and future expansion of learning space) and the needs of California (for mass transit) can both be met, but more discussion is needed among key stakeholders – parents, teachers, school board and city officials, Metro and FTA officials.
Suspending the federal funding for this project will allow for an independent review and time to bring all parties to the table to resolve this matter.
Please take action to suspend the federal funding, and take time to meet with the Beverly Hills High School Board to hear their concerns and perspective on this critical issue.
Stop the Purple Threat today, for the sake of the students of today and tomorrow.
Sincerely,
